You can do it, Cinderella!

Thank you so much for inviting me to your masked ball. Of course I accept the invitation. I'll be coming... but I'm late, I know... one whole day late! But I have my own transport, so I can be there for the 18th!
Thinking about it... I think I might need a... magic wand!

Because... a party at Christmas time wouldn't be a party, without any snow.
So... here we go! I'm bringing SNOW!

A bit of magic:
ABRACADABRA....................
It's snowing!
I will arrive in one of these (they have wings, you know?)

It will be magic... and, like Cinderella, I will have not one, but two footmen... let me wave the wand: Oh! It's Alain Delon

and Marcello Mastroianni! Viva la Dolce Vita!

I know you'll be providing masks, and I'm not quite sure what to wear... possibly this ...

Decisions, decisions, decisions... I can't make up my mind!

Oh, well... I'll bring all of these and I'll change every half hour.

You are going to be so puzzled, I know. But we will have fun, won't we, Helen? Well... until midnight, that is...

  2. You didn't miss it, as the party is not until the 18th! I can give you a lift, if you like. We'll be there in no time at all... I have this Fairy Gidmother and she helps, every now and then... I can put a good word in for you, if you like...

  3. Oh dearest Anna

You have brought me tremendous joy today. I am thrilled you will be attending.

I will be posting about the party and will link you and speak then.

Thank you for delivering and please be sure and bring Mrs. Little Jeans and her pussy cats. Hopefully, Alain and Marello like cats and tough if they do, they will just have to bring their anti-hiss - too- mean. More later

  5. Helen,

Of course I will bring MissLittleJeans and the cats! And if Marcello is really, really allergic to cats, it won't really matter, unless you can die twice!

See you on the 18th, Helen!

  6. Yesm, Christa, the dresses are fab, aren't they? I enjoyed writing this post for Helen... it was so much fun chosing the outfits. I was going to wear black, then I saw the red dresses and fell in love!

See you at the party! I'm off in ten minutes. I'm all packed and ready to go!

  9. Ciao Val... was that you, talking to Marcello? Did I hear you say:"Marcello, come here!" as you tried to emulate Anita Ekberg in "La Dolce Vita?" Remember the Trevi Fountain scene?

I formally invite you to join us this evening, for cocktails. I will introduce you to Marcello and Alain. Don't forget to wear your beautiful pearls!

I hope you can speak Italian and French, as one of my footmen is Italian and the other is French (but also speaks perfect Italian!)

A piu` tardi... Yes... Helen is the perfect hostess!

  10. It's such a shame you didn't join the fun, Helen! I enjoyed putting together the images and looking for a beautiful dress (Italian design, of course!) Though my shoes are YSL! And made of Murano glass, of course!

Helen is creative and nice... my kind of person!

    GOOD NIGHT!

  12. Anna! I am so busy at the moment with work, X-mas preparations, my boys etc. etc. I had no time to say GRAZIE for your comments which are always very, very much appreciated! I hope you are fine and getting ready with your Italian cena di Natale (I hope it is the correct word...). However, enjoy every minute with la famiglia, eat and drink and think of me here in Switzerland for one little second... I'll do the same... Baci, Christa

  15. Dear Helen,

I should thank you for allowing me to go back to my childhood, somehow and for making my big drean come true: meeting Marcello Mastroianni and Alain Delon! It was so much fun!

Please have another party, so I can bring Marlon Brando, and young Al Pacino. Won't bring De Niro, because he's boring in real life!

    BUON NATALE!

  17. Thank you, kristin! I was so busy, I was unable to even switch the computer on! I had a lovely, but tiring Christmas, bought too much food, spent too much money, but also listened to lots of Christmas music, which was very nice and enjoyed my family.

    Happy New Year!

  18. Anna dear, how are things? I was astonished to read that your Italian food did not contain meat... what exactly did you make? I guess there are many photos you'll publish! We all get inspired by the feast you had and get our pans going as well... ;o) Me too I am very tired... so many things are going on... and in between work... next week I'll be off and I am very much looking forward to that! Ciao Anna - I need a ristretto now!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi Christa!

Yes, I can live witout meat, as my mother didn't eat any!
Our Christmas Eve dinner was fish only: fresh pasta with my mixed seafood sauce (added scallops, this year!) a whole baked salmon, spiedini of scallops and king prawns, salt cod, dipped in flour and fried (very nice!) salad and other things I forgot. Our starter was crostini with smoked salmon, lettuce leaves filled with prawns, maryrose sauce I made, avocado and smoked salmon... and more... I have forgotten... it was too much!

I hope you enjoed your ristretto. I'm just having a "lungo" gin and tonic, while my husband watches "Columbo" next to me!
